Our Mission
To enhance the capacity of the health research enterprise in Ontario by increasing the total amount of funding and number of highly qualified personnel available to support international caliber health research in Ontario, while ensuring that investments in health research in Ontario are of strategic social and economic benefit to the health of Ontarians and to the vitality, innovative capacity, and competitiveness of the Ontario economy.
Our Vision
The OHRA seeks to ensure that: Ontario is internationally recognized by health researchers, health research organizations, and health-related for-profit and not-for-profit organizations, as the top jurisdiction in Canada and among the top three jurisdictions in North America for excellence, innovation, and capacity in health research and development.
Our Objectives
- Raise public awareness of the value of an internationally competitive, innovative health research enterprise for Ontario through advocacy and education.
- Identify and document factors required to maximize the performance of Ontario’s health research enterprise.
- Identify ways to strategically increase the level of health research funding in Ontario from all sources (for people, infrastructure and direct and indirect research costs) to a level that would position Ontario as the top jurisdiction in Canada and among the top three jurisdictions with similar GDP in North America.
